NETGEAR WiFi Analytics is a free Android app designed to analyze your WiFi signal.

The app provides both basic and advanced analytics. You can use these analytics to optimize your current network to best suit your needs, or to gauge the range of a recently extended WiFi network. It's easy to check your WiFi signal strength and your network status. You can also identify crowded WiFi channels and choose a WiFi hotspot with clear channels. Clear channels provide more security, less interference, and a faster connection than crowded ones.

The app has a simple, intuitive interface that covers all of the necessary bases. While the graphics aren't particularly flashy, there are visual representations of data. These are ideal for visual learners and for people who want to understand the state of their network at a quick glance.

NETGEAR can do a test to discover your WiFi's signal strength. It also has a Home Testing page which shows you the connectivity percentage of specific rooms in the house. If you want to know which room will get you the best connection, NETGEAR WiFi Analytics has a comprehensive and detailed enough analysis breakdown to tell you exactly that.

The Network Status screen not only shows you all of the available networks and their security levels, but it tells you about their connection strengths and the number of users currently utilizing the network channels. If several networks are available, you can use this screen to determine which will be fastest.

The Channel Interference screen quickly scans network channels and then offers recommendations. It gives a detailed breakdown of the number of networks per channel, the clarity on each channel, and the best channel option for your connection. There's a Channel Graph screen which provides this information in a color-coded, visual format.

Finally, the Signal Graph screen provides all of the signal information in a comprehensive, color-coded format.

If you don't request this permission, you will not receive the broadcast at that time. Though holding this permission does not have any security implications, it can have a negative impact on the user experience by increasing the amount of time it takes the system to start and allowing applications to have themselves running without the user being aware of them.
